Norway Rat

Also known as the “sewer rat,” the Norway rat is found throughout the United States. Contrary to his name, he’s not from Norway. Instead, he’s native to Central Asia and was introduced to this country in the 1700s.

This hairy rodent is big! He can measure up to 16 inches in length and weigh almost a pound.

He’s kind of shy though, staying away from open terrain. Beware if you have thick shrubbery or vegetation around your home—he might sneak inside!
