Termite Origins: Harry

Do you know what the coolest thing in the whole world is? Wolverine. He fights with the X-Men, he has super-cool hair, he has bones made of indestructible adamantium metal, he heals instantly and he has huge claws that come out of his hands. I could go on for days about how cool he is. That’s why I want to go see the new "Wolverine" movie so bad right now.

Actually, I’m a fan of lots of comic book superheroes. I used to read a lot of comic books back in the day. I really like Green Lantern. And the Hulk and Green Arrow. Probably because they’re all the same color as I am—green!

But it always bugged me that there wasn’t a popular mantis-themed superhero. There was a guy called the Ant and a girl called the Wasp who both shrank to insect size. But why isn’t there a praying mantis who could shoot lasers out of his antennae and devour pancakes with lightning speed?

I guess I’ll have to make up my own superhero comic book. I’ll start with my mild-mannered alter-ego, Harry the Chinese praying mantis. Then I’ll rescue everyone in the Insectarium as the Masked Mantis Avenger.

That’s a good start. Now I need to find a pencil to draw my awesome costume.
