So Long, Suncoast
It's hard to say goodbye to good friends, but I had to say "peace out" to Tampa and the Florida Suncoast this week. After a nice Memorial Day cookout on Monday, our show at Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry came to an end on Tuesday afternoon.
I've really enjoyed Tampa. The people are very nice and the weather is great, but for some reason, there are a lot of folks with gray hair here - especially in the winter. I've also noticed that a lot of these people eat dinner at 4 in the afternoon. I'm a night owl (err...mantis,) so I like to stay up late, but a lot of my new friends here like to go to bed early. I still haven't figured that out.
Miley, Atlas and I are boxing everything up so we can hit the road. Paw Paw, as you might expect, is lounging in a chair and bossing everyone around. I'll miss this place, but I'll be glad when we're done so I don't have to hear that old roach griping anymore. But the good news is, we don't have to go far, and we don't have to leave the warmth of the "Sunshine State!"
Our next stop is only 75 miles up I-4 in Orlando, the Florida home of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. (I'm well-versed in entomology, but I don't know a whole lot about rodents. Hope Mickey doesn't try to eat me for dinner. Might be a good time to call my friends at Terminix just to be sure before I head over to Disney World or EPCOT Center.)
We open up for business at the Orlando Science Center in late September, so I have ALL summer to enjoy what Central Florida has to offer. Of course, I'll keep you updated on my tropical adventures while I'm here. For now, I better get back to work before I get hissed at again.
