Learning About Ladybugs

Wednesday May 11 2011

"An entomologist is a scientist who studies bugs," she explained. Then came the best part. She turned to the class and said, "Today we're going to become entomologists!"

I was so excited! We spent the rest of the day learning about the ladybug (like my friend Luckie!) and its habitat, environment, diet, behavior and life cycle.  We broke into groups, and each talked about ladybugs. My group talked about all the interesting facts about the ladybug. Did you know there are more than 400 types? They also won't fly if the temperature is under 55 degrees Fahrenheit! That must be why Luckie never wants to go snowboarding!

Tomorrow the class will get together and talk about all the cool facts they learned. It makes me wish I were coming back to visit again. Who knows, maybe I will!
