Harry Wants the Scariest Halloween Costume

Friday October 23 2009

There is an art to finding the perfect Halloween costume. First you have to decide whether you want it to be cool, funny or scary. If you want to be cool, you could dress up as a superhero or a secret agent. If you want to be funny, you could dress up like a giant hot dog or Chewbacca.

This year I decided that I definitely want to be scary.

So I started going through scary costume ideas. Vampire? Neat, but not really my style. Werewolf? Too furry. Mummy? All those bandages are pretty uncomfortable. Zombie? Too gross.

After I sat down and thought about it, I realized that the scariest thing I could think of was a bird. I know they don’t sound scary to you, but to an insect like me and my friends, birds are super duper scary.

Because birds like to eat bugs. And that is not cool with us. If we weren’t safe here at the Insectarium, we’d constantly be on the lookout for birds.

So maybe I’ll be a bird this year. I bet that would scare the heck out of my insect friends here at Audubon. Anybody know where I can get a bunch of feathers?
