Harry Loves the Jazz and Heritage Festival
All of my friends know that I love music. One of the best things about living here in New Orleans is the wide variety of awesome live music you can find every night. Rock n’ roll, Blues, Zydeco, Jazz—we really have it all here.
What’s even better is that once a year we have a huge series of concerts called the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. And this year is the 40th anniversary. Some of the biggest bands in the world come here to play over two long weekends. It’s intense!
As a matter of fact, it’s totally exhausting to try to see all of the musicians you want to see. I tried, but it’s almost impossible. At the festival I saw Kings of Leon, Tony Bennett, Wilco, Robert Cray and Neil Young (as you can tell I have pretty diverse taste in music).
But I had even more fun tagging along to shows with some of my friends from the Insectarium. Cuddles the scorpion and I caught the Bon Jovi show and it was a blast. I should’ve known, Cuddles is a huge hair metal fan.
I also got to see Los Lobos with Esteban the tarantula. That was seriously fun. Lots of the songs were in Spanish and Esteban let me know what they were singing about.
Now, I’m going to sleep some more. Rocking out like that can really wear a mantis down.
