Harry Looks for a Valentine
I know it’s hard to believe, but I’ve never really been the romantic type. Maybe I just haven’t met the right insect. My usual Valentine’s Day routine is to take my Mom out for dinner and a movie. But since Mom’s back home in Memphis and I’m here at the Insectarium, it’s time for a new plan.
So this year I’m going to try to find a real Valentine’s Day date. I even went out and bought these rather delicious-looking chocolates for whomever agrees to be my date. But I have absolutely no idea how to find a date.
Yesterday I saw some of the pink katydids that the Insectarium has bred just for Valentine’s Day. They are very rare and it’s especially cool to have them here. You really ought to see them.
Luckie the ladybug says that if a pink katydid lands on you on Valentine’s, you will find true love that year. As excited as I am about finding true love, I’m a little scared of having a katydid land on me. That might hurt! Maybe we could just shake hands or something?
If I found a date, I wonder if she’d let me share these chocolates with her. They really look rather scrumptious. And they smell quite wonderful. The box says they come in all sorts of delightful flavors… dark chocolate, white chocolate, pecan, caramel…
That’s it. I’m calling off my search for a Valentine. Instead, I’ll just stay home with these chocolates and a rented movie.
Mmmm-mmmm. I think I’m already in love with these chocolates!
