Harry is a Downward-Facing Dog

Have you ever heard of yoga? I used to think it was something with fruit that people ate for breakfast. Turns out that’s actually yogurt. Which is totally different.

Yoga is a series of stretching and breathing exercises. I’d never done it until yesterday, when I took a little walk outside the Insectarium with Skimmer the Dragonfly. We went to a really cool yoga class held at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas called Yoga Under the Sea.

The instructor explained that yoga is partially a meditation exercise, which means you’re supposed to be totally calm and serene. Then you do these crazy poses and stretches. It was so cool, but I bet it looked really silly if you were watching.

All of the poses had these crazy names like Downward- Facing Dog and Happy Baby. My favorite pose was called the One-Legged King Pigeon. It was really difficult to stand on one leg, when I’m so used to using at least four of mine!

After awhile, I noticed that I was so mellow and peaceful. There was tranquil music playing and it was neat to look at all the different types of fish while stretching. I even saw a shark!

Skimmer says she’s going to go every week. I can see why. After doing just one yoga class I feel limber enough to stretch all the way up to the ceiling. You should totally try it.
