Harry Imagines “Insectarium Idol”
When it’s really cold outside, us bugs like to find places to stay warm. Luckily for me, I’ve got pretty much everything I need here at the Insectarium. Especially now that some of my favorite TV shows are coming back on.
Just this last week I’ve been watching “30 Rock”, “The Simpsons”, “The Office and Chuck”. All of them are lots of fun, but I’m really excited about one show in particular: “American Idol”. I’d never watched it until last year, but this year I’m watching it from the beginning.
I had no idea that the auditions were so funny! There are a lot of people who really can’t sing, but think they can. Sort of like Esteban the Chilean Rose-Haired Tarantula. He loves the Latin singer Julio Iglesias, but when Esteban tries to sing, people run away. He thinks he’s great, but he makes my ears hurt.
You know who really can sing? Paw Paw the Hissing Cockroach. He’s the Susan Boyle of the Insectarium. He doesn’t look like a great singer, but when he sings opera, everyone cries. Not because he’s bad, but because his voice is so lovely and clear.
I’m not a bad singer, but I’m nowhere near as good as Paw Paw. If we had our own “Insectarium Idol”, I’d rather be a judge like Randy or Simon than a contestant. Who knows? One of our bugs could be the next huge star!
