Harry Counts his Pennies

Have you ever found a lucky penny? My friend Luckie the ladybug is always finding good luck charms like pennies and four-leaf clovers and horseshoes. Since she finds that stuff all the time, she was nice enough to give me the penny.

I have no idea what to do with it, though. I’ve never had any money before. I’ve been doing some reading about this whole “economy” thing. I think the smart thing to do is to save money. So I decided to get a piggy bank.

After that, I started finding pennies everywhere. So far I’ve got 12 cents. And let me tell you, they’re pretty big and heavy to be worth so little. I can’t believe it takes about 50 of these pennies to buy a Coke!

I’m going to keep saving. I’m not sure what for yet. But I’ll think of something. Maybe I’ll buy a different piggy bank. It’s a lot of fun to sit on.

It does make me wonder who on Earth came up with the idea for a pig-shaped bank? Why not a cow bank? Or a mantis bank?
