Harry and His Little Dog Toto
I don’t know why I keep watching "The Wizard of Oz." Okay, I know that I watch it because it’s a great movie, but it always makes me a little sad.
See, in The "Wizard of Oz," a girl named Dorothy and her dog, Toto, try find their way through a magical land called Oz to get back home to Kansas. Along the way they get help from characters such as the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. It’s such a cool movie, even if it’s pretty old.
I grew up loving this movie and when I was just a little bug, my family got my little Yorkshire Terrier that I named Toto. Toto and I were best friends. When we got him from the animal shelter, he was the runt of the litter. So, he wasn’t too big for me to play with or take care of.
When I moved to the Insectarium last year, I had to leave Toto at home with my family in Memphis. Every now and again, I really miss him. Especially when I watch "The Wizard of Oz."
Sometimes, when I miss Toto, I go down to the local shelter and volunteer to visit the puppies there. They always need good friends and a family to love them. I bet your local animal shelter has a lot of wonderful pups like Toto. And they are always looking for volunteers and families who want to adopt a dog.
