More than 80 years ago, our founder, E.L. Bruce, was faced with a dilemma. In the hardwood flooring business, Bruce had to figure out how to keep termites from destroying his products. Realizing he wasn’t alone in his struggles against the wood-destroying pest, Bruce founded Terminix in 1927 with the goal of nixing termites (hence “Terminix”).
Bruce’s ingenuity and experimentation led him to earn the first U.S. patent for a termiticide and laid the groundwork for what would become the world’s largest termite and pest control company.
More than eight decades after Bruce founded our company, our commitment to advancements, education and exploration remains unchanged. At harrysbigadventure.com, it’s our goal to share with you some of the knowledge, expertise and appreciation we have for the remarkable role insects play in our environment.
At Terminix, we have committed our company and our lives to better understanding bugs. They are integral to our ecosystem. We believe bugs are valuable in their natural environments; it is only when they leave those natural environments and enter yours that they become a problem. Many bugs can bite, sting or cause structural problems to our homes. Because of this, it’s important to keep bugs where they belong: outside.
We hope that you enjoy harrysbigadventure.com and that you learn a fascinating new fact or two about some of our ecosystem’s greatest contributors each time you visit.
